Fifty four students were left in the open when the roof of their classroom block was blown away by a storm at Chinyuni Mission Primary School in Chirumanzu. The roof of the classroom and an administration block was blown away by a storm that rocked the area on 25 January 2018 affecting learning activities at the school. Of those affected were 26 Grade 1 and 28 Grade 2 pupils.
The Headmaster of the school Mr. Mhovha was appealing for assistance in cash or kind so that the affected children who now receive lessons under a tree may get back to the classroom. The school has a serious shortage of classrooms and two classes receive lessons in one classroom. This affects comprehension of concepts by learners as a result of divided attention when lessons are running concurrently. The school was built around the 1960s and the buildings are old and in need of renovation.
