This year, Hwange Diocese hosts the fifth anniversary of the pontificate of His Holiness Pope Francis on Sunday, 11 March 2018. The Eucharistic celebrations of the anniversary will be held at St. Ignatius cathedral church in Hwange town.
The Papal Nuncio to Zimbabwe, Archbishop Marek Zalewski and the Bishop of Hwange, Albert Serrano, will preside over the celebrations in the colliery Diocese to mark the fifth anniversary of Pope Francis since his occupation of the office in 2013.
The anniversary celebrations will be followed by a reception to be held on Wednesday, 14 March 2018 at Meikles Hotel. The commemoration of the anniversary has become customary in Zimbabwe with people encouraged to pray for the Pope and his office.
