
The Apostolic Nuncio to Zimbabwe, Archbishop Marek Zalewski has been appointed by the Holy Father, Pope Francis as the new Apostolic Nuncio to Singapore and Pontifical Representative for Vietnam. A press release from the Apostolic Nunciature in Zimbabwe confirmed this development.
“Today, 21 May 2018, His Holiness Pope Francis has appointed His Excellency Most. Rev. Marek Zalewski, Titular Archbishop of Africa, presently Apostolic Nuncio in Zimbabwe as the new Apostolic Nuncio to Singapore and Pontifical Representative for Vietnam,” read the press release.

Archbishop Zalewski was appointed to represent the Holy Father in Zimbabwe in 2014 and succeeded Archbishop George Kochery. Monsignor Gabriel Pesce will be the charge d’affaires that is an official below the rank of ambassador who acts as the senior representative of his or her country in a foreign country where there is no ambassador. Monsignor Pesce will act in this position while awaiting the appointment of the new Nuncio to Zimbabwe.
