15 August marked three important events in the history of the Carmelite Sisters under the Diocese of Mutare. Being the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary, the day also marked the 15th Anniversary of the death of the congregation’s founder, Bishop Donal Lamont which coincided with the jubilee celebrations of Sr. Maria Stella Nyakujipa from Mt. Mellary Mission in Nyanga and Sr. Theresa Nyarambi from St. Michaels Tanda. The two came to the altar of God to say thank you for journeying with them for fifty years in his vineyard. The two were accompanied by St. Faustine Chinamasa who celebrated her silver jubilee having lived in the congregation for 25 years.

The day was graced with mass celebrated by His Lordship, Bishop Paul Horan together with Emeritus Bishop Alexio Chrismas Churu Muchabaiwa. Priests, deacons and religious as well as the faithful from all corners of the diocese flocked the Carmelite Mother House to witness the memorable event in the life of the three sisters. In his homily, Fr. Webster Chibvongodze reminded the Sisters to keep on thanking God for his blessings despite the challenges that they may be facing. He emphasized on the need to remain focused on the values of their vows. The mass was livened by angelic voices of the Carmelite Sisters choir who supported their confreres through their melodious singing.
