Having been moved by the devastating effects of Cyclone Idai, Prince Edward High School’s Interact Club has on 8 April 2019 donated clothes and groceries to support St. Charles Luanga School that was heavily hit by the disaster.
‘Others before self’

The Interact Club comprising of 20 boys led by their teacher Mrs. Maureen Vambe donated goods which they mobilised from the community. The goods were handed over to the Zimbabwe Catholic Bishops’ Conference Secretary General, Fr. Fradereck Chiromba in the presence of the ZCBC education Secretary Sr. Theresa Nyadombo and Acting Caritas National Coordinator, Mr. Paul Muchena.
Driven by their moto ‘Others before self’, the students said they were deeply moved by the plight of their counterparts at St. Charles Luanga where two students and a security guard died during the disaster.
The spokesperson of the club Mthulisi Khumalo said it was important to help other people in their problems no matter where they are. According to Mrs. Vambe, the club was making frantic efforts to raise funds to add to their donation.

The club donated cooking oil, water, clothes, mazoe, maputi, matemba, rice, sugar, books, bathing and washing soap, tinned beans, noodles, biscuits, Colgate, coffee mugs, plastic plates, soya chunks among others.
Receiving the donation at Africa Synod House, Fr. Chiromba thanked Prince Edward Interact Club for the kind gesture in supporting a fellow school and the affected community. The goods will be part of the consignment of donations meant to alleviate the situation of the people affected by Cyclone Idai.
