Bishop of Hwange urges Zimbabwean citizens to uphold peace and unity during elections on his first visit to Nsenga cluster in Binga for confirmation

The bishop of Hwange, Raphael Ncube has urged Zimbabwean citizens to uphold peace and unity before, during and after elections when he confirmed ten Catholics on his first visit to St. Anne, Nsenga cluster under All Souls Mission on 2 July 2023 in Binga.

All Souls Mission has two clusters, Nsenga and Samende. Nsenga cluster has four centres which are Chininga, Gande, Dongamuze and Nsenga.

The confirmation mass was also attended by Frs. Trust Luyando Mweembe and Moment Mwiinde, and Ministers Proud Muunga, Brighton Munkuli, and Stephen Zulu and Seminarian Tatenda Nyoni as well as members of the community. Bishop Ncube led a synodal walk whilst praying the holy rosary before mass.

He advised those confirmed to promote peace and unity in the church and in communities in which they live and encouraged them to sacrifice their life for others.

Bishop Ncube said: “Troubles will always come, but God will conquer. As Christians, we follow Jesus who instructed us to carry our cross and follow him. We will face troubles but that should not make us leave the Church,” he said.

The bishop castigated those who have no time for others and encouraged unity, peace and the spirit of journeying together as the family of God.

“God made himself available to us through his son Jesus Christ. Let us also be more present to our families, relatives, friends, and the church,” he stressed.

After mass, the Young Adults Association members explained their pastoral activities in Binga, their achievements and their plans. They encouraged people between the ages of 25 and 35 to join the association.

Fr. Moment Mwiinde took the opportunity to campaign for vocations by encouraging boys and girls from Binga to heed God’s call to priesthood and religious life.

The bishop expressed his gratitude to Nsenga cluster which has grown and contributed priests and sisters to the church. He appreciated the work being done by catechists in inculcating Christian values in those who want to follow Jesus as Catholics. He then handed over rosaries to the newly confirmed and encouraged them to pray always.

Bishop Ncube then encouraged Christians who attended the confirmation to uphold peace and unity before, during and after elections reminding people that, “We are one people and elections always come and go.
