Fr. Lukio hits 25

By Fr. Methuli

Yesterday, the 21st of February, Fr. Davison Lukio, of the Archdiocese of Harare, celebrated his 25th Priestly Anniversary at the Immaculate Conception Parish in New Highfields. Archbishop Robert Ndlovu presided over the Holy Mass with about a hundred priests concelebrating. Fr. Lukio was ordained on 3 January 1999. Scores of parishioners from far and wide, including those from parishes where Father Lukio once served and Monte Casino Students, parents, and parishioners where he is currently serving graced the occasion. His fellow seminary classmates, Fr. Mushawasha from Chinhoyi Diocese, Fr. Ngun’u from Gweru Diocese, and those from the Archdiocese of Harare were also in attendance.

In his speech, Fr. Lukio thanked the families that embraced him after his parents passed on. He emphasised that apart from those who had landed him a hand as he grew, everyone else he met and who did the will of God, the Father, became his family member, too. He glorified God as the source of his strength and why he made it this far.

Fr. Lukio’s Seminary Classmates

Archbishop Ndlovu remarked that he has known Fr. Lukio for over 32 years since he was his Rector at the Seminary. Wishing the Jubilarian happiness and God’s blessings in his ministry, the Archbishop echoed that people often say that Priesthood can be a source of joy, yet the actual thing to say is priesthood is a source of Joy. A joy that comes when the priest does his work as it must.
