Franciscan family in Zimbabwe celebrates 800th Anniversary of the Approval of the Rule of 1223

The Franciscan family in Zimbabwe comprising of Brothers, Sisters, Priests and the circular Franciscans will be celebrating their 800 years of the rule. This is in recognition of the rule of the Order of the Franciscan Order. The celebration will bring together the First Order families, that is Franciscan Friars (OFM) and Franciscan Friars (OFM Capuchin), the Second Order which are the Poor Clares, and then the Third Order families comprising of the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Divine Motherhood, Franciscan Missionaries of Africa, the Holy Cross Sisters and the circular Franciscans.

The conference which runs from 1-3 December 2023, will be held at St. Francis of Assis, Water Falls Parish, No. 39 Simon Mazorodze Rd in Harare.

This gathering is meant to celebrate the Franciscan rule of life which emphasises observance of the Holy Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ known as the regula bullata.
