Teams battle it out in a tug of war match.

The Zimbabwe Catholic Bishops’ Conference Secretariat and its partners comprising of CAFOD, Catholic Relief Services (CRS), Trocaire and Cordaid recently came together in the Caritas Games tournament. The games which were held under the theme: “Caritas Games 2023: Walking Together”, were meant to cement collaboration and augment partnerships between ZCBC and its funding partners which fall under the Caritas family.  The games which used to be held annually were stopped due to Covid-19 with the last games being played in 2018. This year’s games were held on 1 December 2023 at Veritas Sports Center, formerly Italian Sports Club.

The Games Director, Dr. Endris Seid, who is the Country Director for Cordaid, encouraged the Church and its partners to continue working together in supporting communities and people that need help. He said coming together under the umbrella of Caritas Games rejuvenates the commitment of the Church agencies to work together and to support each other’s efforts.

“These games create synergies and help to improve relationships among Church organs in their mission to serve humanity. I am impressed that we have managed to revive these games that bring us together as one family. This is a platform for us to create relations, to get to know one another and to grow in our mission to serve the people and their communities,” Dr. Endris said.
